Throughout its varied history, Basildon Park has served as a large family home for 150 years, a convalescent hospital in the First World War, a hospital in the Second World War and a hospital in the Second World War. as a military barracks during World War II. Fortunately, in the 1950s it fell into the hands of Lord and Lady Iliffe, who designed it with a passion for Renaissance interiors. This warm neutral colour was used on the walls of the Staircase, designed to feel more like a living room than a cold corridor.
